FIG Working Week 2020 comes to Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Today, Friday, May 6, in Christchurch, New Zealand, the FIG (International Federation of Surveyors) general assembly voted for the location of the Working Week 2020. Working Week combines meetings of FIGs administrative bodies with technical seminars organized by the commissions and the host member associations and as such provide the opportunity for commissions to develop their work programmes. After a presentation of the Dutch delegation (GIN, Society for Geo-information; Kadaster, ITC, Twente University and GIM International) on Monday, May 2nd, Amsterdam was chosen over Interlaken (Switzerland).
The proposed theme of the Working Week in May 2020 [1] is Smart Surveyors for Land and Water Management.
About 1,500 participants are expected from around the world at the RAI in Amsterdam to discuss the state of play on the theme. The necessary skills for the future are examined, so that knowledge and expertise are up to date. "We are proud that the FIG Working Week 2020 will be organized in Amsterdam and look forward to it with confidence. We will, together with the participants, further develop our profession and discuss what skills are needed to address the global challenges for a sustainable world. Peter Hoogwerf, chairman organisation committee.
